DVSA issues revisions to its guidance on the categorisation of vehicle defects

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA)’s Categorisation of Vehicle Defects provides guidance on the actions that examiners and authorised constables take when roadworthiness defects are found during vehicle inspections and annual Ministry of Transport (MOT) tests. The guidance also ensures consistency among examiners.

The document is available publicly so that vehicle owners, drivers and operators are aware of the DVSA’s standards.

The DVSA updates the guidance from time to time, and the most recent changes have been applicable from 1 September 2022.

You can read the DVSA’s guidance document here: Categorisation of vehicle defects. All the latest revisions are listed the end of the document, from page 266 to 268.
