Continued growth results in significant data centre upgrade

In 2015 Mandata reported a 50% rise in the volume of customer transactions being completed via its mission critical transport management systems.

A significant investment was made, upgrading its data centre to an Enterprise-class EMC infrastructure to support both customer growth and the increasing demand for the Mandata Cloud TMS, Web Services, Tracking and mobile applications.

In under two years, Mandata has outgrown this additional capacity and recently carried out the next phase in its infrastructure upgrade, two years ahead of schedule, Mark Norcliffe, CEO of Mandata explains: “Despite the investment we made in 2015 to futureproof our systems, we could not have predicted the unprecedented level of growth we’ve experienced.”

“As a result, we have made the necessary commitment and a further unprecedented level of investment to radically scale-up our data centre, super-charging our Software-as-a-Service offering to ensure we continue to provide the highest level of performance to our customers.”

“Our data centre is critical to our customer’s operations and has been given the utmost priority. Our investment in XtremIO takes our data centre to the highest level, supporting the most complex workflows and providing real-time access to critical data required by road transport operators today and in the future.”

Working with Mandata’s partner Synapse 360, Mandata has implemented XtremIO All Flash Array from Dell EMC, currently utilised by over 45% of the Fortune 200. This will provide a more dynamic environment for Mandata applications and allow for greater scalability and improved response times. Ian Dunbar, Mandata’s Head of IT Services explains:

“The all flash architecture of XtremIO delivers consistent sub-millisecond performance and our customers have already noticed the difference.” “They say Cloud TMS and other applications feel more responsive and deliver an improved customer experience. Our response times can now be measured in microseconds, not milliseconds and this gives us and our customers a competitive advantage,” said Ian.

“Currently the new system is running at 5% of capacity and the average response time is 400 microseconds, 15 times faster than our previous system.”

“Technology does not stand still and neither do we. We’ve built on our previous investment in class-leading technology to give customers plenty room for even more growth and access to the most responsive systems available. This is critical because our customers rely on us for the fast and efficient delivery of information to the desktop, over the web and on mobile technology.”

Dell EMC XtremIO is also giving the Mandata IT Services team live analytical performance data with which to manage services and provide the highest level of support to its customers.
