The company, which operates a mixed fleet of almost 100 vehicles from its depots in Southampton and Purfleet, provides a wide variety of services to its customers, including warehousing and distribution, groupage work, pallet distribution for the Palletline network, and dangerous goods transportation.

Before adopting its Cloud Mandata TMS, YTL had been using the same TMS provider for over 25 years, so the decision to move away from its old, familiar system was not one which was taken lightly.
"It just got to a point where we felt we were outpacing our old TMS, and we realised that we needed to put a new system in place that would work with us to help us move the business on in the direction we wanted it to go", Rob said.
“We initially had a look at the Mandata system through some friends in the industry who are also Mandata customers, and we liked what we saw, so we went for it.”
YTL went live with its new Mandata Cloud TMS in June, so the system is still very much in its infancy, however, YTL has already started to see benefits from its investment.Greater visibility and improved planning
"One of the things we liked straight away about the Mandata system was the overall visibility. You can find out everything you need to know about a consignment from within the TMS, without having to go combing through loads of notes", Rob said.
“The different Traffic Pads within the TMS are really good for planning as well. We can allocate vehicles and drivers to loads at the touch of a button, and we’re actually able to stage our jobs properly now as well, which is something we’ve never been able to do before. Everything about the system is just so much quicker and easier to use.”

“Our customers are definitely seeing the benefit of the new system by virtue of the digital PODs,” Rob said.
“Because everything is electronic now, we can provide customers with the information they need about their jobs almost instantaneously.
