Packaging company Plasto-Sac UK is among the first in the sector to adopt new cloud transport management technology to improve the efficiency of its road haulage and distribution operations.

The £18m turnover company, which operates a small fleet of five commercial vehicles and 20 trailers from its Congleton head office in Cheshire and depots at Skelmersdale and Spalding, uses the cloud transport management software TMS Go! from Mandata, to improve the tracking of dozens of shipments being delivered to customer sites across the UK

Investing in subscription-based cloud technology has enabled the packaging manufacturer to reduce the time taken to contact drivers to check on delivery schedules and vehicle locations.

Time now spent on more important tasks

This is time that can now be more beneficially applied to improving vehicle planning and resource allocation, says transport manager Pete Bozon, as Plasto-Sac moves to meet growing demand for its range of corrugated packaging products, pre-made bags and lamination films for foods and non-foods both solids and liquids.

This contributes to improving business efficiency, added Pete Bozon, who sees plenty of potential to expand the use of TMS Go! in the months ahead.

“We have only scratched the surface of the system’s capabilities. I have no hesitation in predicting that we will come to rely more and more on it as our user experience increases and we adopt other services.

Ultimately, key performance indicators around future distribution and logistics operations will be the true measure of success for Plasto-Sac transport.
