Increased profit and turnover for Wyvern Cargo
August 2008
Wyvern Cargo has posted increased profit and turnover after investing heavily in transport management software. Pre-tax profit at the Poole, Dorset firm for the year to March 2008 increased 30% to £301,336 in 2008, from £231,266 in 2007, while turnover grew to £15m from £13.6m the previous year.
During the 12-month period, the company introduced Mandata Manpack 3 software, which encom-passes proof-of-delivery and invoicing, as well as load planning. According to the firm, the system has "significantly improved" its transport planning.
Evan Sparrowhawk, Wyvern Cargo managing director, says that the firm - a member of both Linq Alliance and pallet network Fortec - continues to write a fuel escalator clause into contracts.
"Talk of an economic recession persists and if it hits us, we will simply have to swim harder against the tide," he adds. "We also monitor fuel consumption by vehicle and discuss the results with the drivers, because undoubtedly driver awareness is the key to improved performance."
